I've added a link in kit's footer to go to faith.tools, and I've added a link in the faith.tools footer that goes to kit. This update enables is more fluidity when going between faith.tools website and the kit website. You can now sign in for kit and also be signed in for faith.tools

This authentication will enable a lot of fun stuff in the future on faith.tools. (Right now auth has no benefit yet on faith.tools.)

Some ideas include marking an app as "I use this app" to help get data and better rank apps on faith.tools, or I could a space for users to share stories/testimonies on how God's worked in their life as they used an app, etc. I have some potential future updates written at https://go.faith.tools/future

kit is not abandoned.

I've been able to spend half-days working on contract work and the other half home chores and faith.tools contributions.

My heart is to serve you, someone who loves Jesus and enjoys tinkering/building for Christians.

I wanna highlight a few things:

Thank you to Ryan O'Dowd of Wrinkly for submitting a bug report about creating new posts failing (eek!). Cause of the issue was due to the content moderation LLM model being old and unsupported. Fixed!
The Gloo Hackathon is coming up on October 8-10th. Excited to meet some of y'all. If you're going, reply and let me know!
If you're looking for ideas on what to create next, consider MCP. I recently created Bible MCP (which borrows from the wonderful Free Use Bible API from AO Labs) and it's really fun to ask my chatbot to fetch Scripture and it does a tool call and returns it to the chat.

Hey friends,

I learned that there was a bug on the kit site making it where when someone tried to sign up for updates, it failed... I am terribly sorry about that one. But... it's been fixed!

I revisited kit again when sharing it with some friends recently. It's a beautiful and simple tool to showcase what you're building.

The initial dream was that this would be deeply integrated into faith.tools. I want kit to be the place where you update you app listing on faith.tools and to help you build a community.

Yesterday was my last full day at Techless. I'll be joining some friends in a wonderful startup soon working part-time. It's going to be so much fun. And, since it's part time, I'll also have more time to invest in faith.tools and tools like kit!

One fun update about faith.tools is that I recently added Cloudflare's AutoRAG to it, so search is 100x better than it was. Please try it out!

P.S. What's one joy you're experiencing and one hardship?

For me, I'm experiencing the joy of feeling like a kid again, being able to invest in faith.tools more and build. It's sweet.

The hardship is battling sickness in my household.

Made a couple of small changes to make kit even better:

I'm planning to just fold kit into faith.tools so that it's the admin panel you use to manage your faith.tools app posting. Please let me know what you think about this change!

Hey, hope you're doing well. I saw that I was getting people submitting spam content in get updates form, so I decided to take action and add some email validation and content safety validation to help make sure we're keeping the platform safe and secure.

Added

AI content moderation for validating emails and validating text-based content submitted to kit. This will make it far easier to block spam entries for contacts interested in your product. Want to see how it was done?

Fixed

The webhook for contact adds no longer randomly deletes anymore. Sorry about that one!

For many months, I remember hearing about some really cool projects people were building in the faith and tech space. However, a lot of these projects were in-progress. Since faith.tools was inadvertently created for already published projects, many Christian creatives like yourself preferred to wait until their project was v1 ready to put on faith.tools.

But... You and I both know there's deep value in building in public and getting the concept out to users for product validation (and sometimes even just encouragement to keep on going).

I'd hear about your in-progress projects and found myself constantly saying, "I wish there was a way to showcase in-progress projects on faith.tools"

When I find myself repeating something like that, it's time to hit the drawing board and create.

That's why kit was created.

Now, your project has more visibility on faith.tools! See what I'm talking about

Your kit posting now has support for your logo or app icon!
When you're logged in and viewing your own post, there's now an edit button to easily make updates to your post.

Updated

I moved the faith.tools kit logo to the footer so that your content is front and center.
When you're signed in, the footer will give you the option to "Open Dashboard". Otherwise it'll say "Sign In".

Fixed

When you're signed in and visit the home / sign-in page for kit, you'll automatically be redirected to /dashboard.
Using back-ticks are now possible.

What's new?

I've added share buttons on the kit dashboard for sharing your kit page and sharing your posts.
Now, when you create a post, it'll redirect you to that post in the dashboard for easy viewing and sharing.
When you share, each post and kit page will include a share image automatically.

Added - Each project gets their own CTA URL, as well as CTA button text that you can customize to your liking. (Thanks, Stephen C.!)
Updated - Attempted to mitigate confusion between publishing and saving. Saving needed to happen first before publishing, so I enforce that on the UI.
Fixed - When you sign in, it should now redirect you to the dashboard.
Fixed - Not sure if I mentioned this earlier, but your page caching is invalidated when you make a page update. No more waiting to see if the changes propagated.
Fixed - People with apostrophes in their name caused the page to crash... That's the blessing and curse of Alpine.js. That has been fixed! (Thanks, Ryan O!)
Fixed - Entering in YouTube video didn't always work as intended. Long story short, I need the video ID to display the video, and the code now properly gets the video ID.

Added - QR code that you can scan, download, and share for your kit page.
Added - You can now delete Posts and Contacts.
Updated - When you have no Posts or no Contacts, I've updated the empty state UI to be more pleasing to the eye.

Here are some quick updates on kit:

Updated - Page caching to speed up site load times (and save on server bills). What this means for you: when you update a post, it may take up to a few hours to update on the other end.
Added - When someone signs up to get updates, you can add a webhook to consume the contact data and add it to your own database. To check out the webhook feature, visit https://kit.faith.tools/dashboard/contacts when logged in.
Added - Each page on the logged in dashboard now has a footer that includes a place to report feedback.
Updated - Made the text for the editor a little larger for easy viewing and writing.
Added - Your user profile is now in the header of each page in the dashboard.
Added - Post paths are now editable in the kit dashboard.
Added - RSS feeds for posts on each kit page.
Added - Made it easy to copy and share post link!
Breaking Change - Added URL slug for each project, so that it's not just an number id in the URL. It's far more readable. So, things have changed from kit.faith.tools/12 to kit.faith.tools/project-name.
